And Then She Discovered that Cream Really DOES Come From Cows...

The friendly cow, all red and white,
I love with all my heart;
She gives me cream with all her might,
To eat with apple-tart.

Robert Louis Stevenson (1850-1894)

Here is a poor photograph of one of our gallons of real un-homogenized milk. Notice anything different than the homogenized?

Here's the same gallon in a different light, to show a greater contrast...can you see it? There is an awesome cream line on this. See how the top is a different color and consistency than the rest? CREAM :)

How much cream can you get off a gallon of real milk? Unless I'm doing it wrong, you can get this much!

I'm not sure I've had that much cream EVER at one time in my life. Oh, the possibilities!

Or I can just leave the cream in, give it all a shake, and serve up an icy chilled glass of deliciousness...mmmmm :)

(Going now... to further indulge!)

You remind me of my lovely Jerseys. We moved back to the land in the 70's homesteaded hard for about 15 years. Lack of funds sent me off to college on grants, and to work.

Now we're making our way back, and I am loving every minute. I just wish Honey and Dolly were still with us, with their rich cream milk. homegrown strawberries with Jersey cream--THAT is being a rich woman!

My little Jersey heifer should be giving me some cream like that in about a year!

Hey, try just using half-cream, half-milk when you mix up some instant pudding.

It's so rich and good, it makes you want to slap your grandpa.

Back when I didn't have a husband with heart issues, I used cream in everything. Not to mention home-made butter.
