Blog Neglect

I hope to have some catch-up time here this weekend. My body seems preoccupied in its own learning curve of adapting to a different level of physical demands at the job, which is likely much-needed.

The Job I Really Want was dealt a somewhat blow this week as the final phase commenced. I'm in the last stage of clearance, and was only recently diagnosed as diabetic. Blah blah blah, the point being that I've been proactive to DEAL with that as boldly and proactively as possible, but things are on hold with my medical clearance...perhaps permanently, or perhaps with a substantial delay.

In dealing with disappointment, or prospective difficulty (this job also pays considerably more than I make now and has benefits), we've been praying about it. I sincerely believe that our whole path, homestead direction included, is part of a bigger plan that we're in partnership with God in...meaning He has the bigger perspective of which doors are best and which aren't. So disappointment, which is real, is something I'm processing hopefully as another learning curve of trust.

We'll see where this path takes us. It's definately exciting, to say the least :)

The pollinator project may unfold slowly, but unfold it will. Stay tuned!

Diabetic!? We have many friends--some since childhood with this problem. This is not un surmountable. You will feel better once you learn how to work with it too. Sorry you have to face this though.
God has your path in mind. I hope it works out the way you hoped it all would. Even if it doesn't---I have always found that God's idea was better than mine in the end.
Stay well---and wow! your husband mopped for you. Amazing---maybe I should send my family down to take lessons!

Robbyn, my sister has been diabetic for over 30 years- since she was 9, and my husband has been diabetic for several years, maybe 10 or 12. It takes some thought, but can be managed. I am sorry to hear about your job issues- I know how that is, I am struggling with those myself, and am waiting right now to see if I will still be employed after the end of the month. It's so hard to wait, isn't it- I always want to make things happen.

I thought about you tonight- I was watching Bill Maher and his final New Rule was about Earth Day and the loss of pollinators.

Shalom and Shabbat blessings to you- however things work out, it sounds like you have a terrific husband!

Monica, thank you for your words of encouragement. I suspected for a long time, since I had symptoms similar to a friend of mine, and since I have a good bit of weight to lose. About the time I was laid off from my job last year and lost my insurance, I bought a glucometer and found my sugars abominably high. I tried to regulate things with just diet, but needed recently to get under a doctor's care, which I pursued and did.

I went through a period of a lot of self-recrimination and all the array of emotions, but am at the point where I feel this can be either dealt with, or potentially reversed, given the right cooperation on my part. I'm Type 2 and seem to be responding to the most basic non-insulin meds they're giving me. I'm hoping we can get the dosage just right, but the nutritionist said the biggest negative contributor is...stress. Ha! :)

Willa, I'm sorry to hear about your job insecurity. I'll add that to my prayers...am still praying for Monica's farm some good soaking rains!

Sounds like diabetes is stubbornly remaining a problem for our friends and family and society. I know had I eaten and cared for myself differently throughout the years, there's a great likelihood I'd not be dealing with this now. The question is whether the changes we're implementing can halt its progress or even reverse it. I'm willing to try and see :)

I haven't watched TV in about 3 years, except in the occasional waiting room...we have no regular TV reception and just use our monitor to watch rented movies. I didnt know Bill Maher was doing a series...would love to check out what he said on the two you mentioned. thanks for the thoughts! And thanks for mentioning me in your Thinking Blog entry! :) :) Ditto!!

I really appreciate you two ladies, and am thankful for your blog friendship and insights. Thank you!
