I tried the same for NY to Dublin, Ireland. It still used that dodgy wharf in NY and a swim to France. Followed by the Channel Tunnel to the UK and the Ferry from Wales to Dublin.
I think Google has a concessions stall in France for tired trans-Atlantic swimmers otherwise there would have been the direct swim to Ireland.
