Yow!

Thirteen years ago, I had to go through surgery to replace two herniated discs in my neck, due to a lifting injury at work.
Ever since then my neck has limited range of motion.
And my back is stiff alot because of that.
Oh an I have hip dyplasia, too...to add insult to injury.

All those things affect the core of my body and when the core is affected, everything is.
It's challenging, but what other have said is right, stretching several times a day is often better than strenuous exercise, especially in the beginning.

As I've gotten older (and today's my 42nd birthday) it seems to be more of a struggle and I wish I could laugh as joyfully as you do. I want my body to be like it as when I was younger and more supple and flexible. Maybe if you were around, I'd be laughing so hard I'd get my mind of all the aches and pains.
It sure would be worth the try! :)

Feel better my blog friend.

~LisaLaughing Orca Ranchhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03562627840013868980noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6627749570719712047.post-62897692374102515562008-09-04T02:59:00.000-07:002008-09-04T02:59:00.000-07:00Poor, poor you. I'm paranoid about my back going out again as there is only me here (& Annon when she's not at school or out). Last time s was vaguely around & we had no animals & I lived on the edge of a village, not 1/2 way up a mountain! AND your period, too, just to make things harder. I'm glad you don't seem to suffer those as I do.

Hope you can sort it ASAP ~ maybe someone is telling YOU to take things easy in the midst of all that's happening because you'll be on call later & will need all your strength then...Killihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13175513884016706612noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6627749570719712047.post-27519717285209026292008-09-03T22:58:00.000-07:002008-09-03T22:58:00.000-07:00I can so relate to your story! My back does the same thing every other year or so and no matter what--stretching, standing, sitting, laying down--nothing will make it better but drugs! And after not having my visitor for at least four months or more and being quite pleased about it, there it is. Only lucky for me the two haven't occurred at the same time.tina f.https://www.blogger.com/profile/10813986790663678450noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6627749570719712047.post-29768295546393557662008-09-03T18:23:00.000-07:002008-09-03T18:23:00.000-07:00Geez, when it rains it flows.Geez, when it rains it flows.sugarcreekstuffhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13398483543918415852noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6627749570719712047.post-43086787672314163932008-09-03T15:59:00.000-07:002008-09-03T15:59:00.000-07:00Some days it is laugh or cry.... We never know if we're supposed to turn inward and focus on ourself, take time to slow down, spend more time with focused relaxation, or what. But we always know when our bodies are telling us something.

And I do so love the "Fred Flintstone" image!!! :)It's mehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02030081794655766175noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6627749570719712047.post-40035766836205055452008-09-03T10:31:00.000-07:002008-09-03T10:31:00.000-07:00I am glad you are able to have a good laugh, even ...I am glad you are able to have a good laugh, even if it is at your own expense ;)

You have painted quite the flatting image of yourself scooting around the house! If you can ever get to the floor, you will be able to ease your way out of this, trust me. Unless you have injured yourself beyond what this will ease. At 51 I am much more limber than many 30 years olds. Doctors say I have an amazing range of motion; and I have 3 herniated disks. The trick is to STAY limbered up all the time to reduce injury. Roll up a towel when you get to the floor. Lie on top of it and roll slowly over the sore spots. You will have to stretch all your muscles carefully first. I know all the ones to do, as I was taught by a doctor 12 years ago. Email if you want more info.
Good luck. I was on a cane at 30. I know what I'm talking about. You have to be mindful of things you do so as not to aggravate and injure yourself. And learn how to alter your habits so you don't get injured.
BrendaAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
